RYA Day Skipper / Watchleader Shorebased Theory

Duration 6 days (3 weekends) Cost £265.00 (You must have the RYA pack, cost £25.00 extra)

Hours 0930 to 1730 MAXIMUM 6 Students.

Dates:

A Fun introduction to the RYA cruising scheme. no past experience is necessary. and you don't have to be a math superstar . This is the RYA basic navigation course and no previous knowledge is assumed. The course covers basic seamanship, yacht parts, equipment, safety procedures and collision regulations.

Students are given a comprehensive introduction to chart work, pilotage, position fixing, tides and meteorology. This course is ideal for students who want to go flotilla sailing in the future.

Included in the cost of the course: The RYA students pack and navigation tables course plotters and dividers. 

Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Shorebased Theory .

Duration 6 days (3 weekends) Cost £270.00. ( you must have the RYA pack, cost £20.00 extra.)

MAXIMUM 6 students. Hours 0930 to 1730

This comprehensive Course is designed to be they follow-on From the Day Skipper course or For those with practical experience of navigation . Covering some basics of the principles then moving on to the subjects that provide theory on off-shore cruises. Topics covered include: passage planning, pilotage, tides, position fixing, electronic instruments, meteorology ,weather map interpretation and safety .
Radio Courses - Short Range Certificate

Duration 1 day. Hours 0900 to 1730 

Dates: 

1 March, 24 March, 19 April, 18 May, 22 June, 13 July, 23 August & 28 September

Cost £70.00 + RYA License Fee £25.00

The course trains students to operate VHF radio telephones fitted With Digital Selective Calling (DSC). Its aim-is to teach (through practical computer simulation) students to use the Global Marine Distress Safety System (GMDSS) . Students' will be set pre-course reading and assessment is made on a continuous basis through out the course. The written test at the end of the course covers all areas or the syllabus.

This is a relaxed and enjoyable course.  

VHF - GMDSS Conversion

Dates: 18 May, 22 June, 13 July, 23 August, 28 September

Cost £43 + £25 RYA Lic Fee

Duration 4 hours . Hours 1400 to 1800 

This course leads to the awarding of the Short Range Certificate For those who already hold a non-GMDSS certificate.

RYA Basic Navigation and Safety

The RYA’s new two day course is aimed at anyone new to sailing or motor boating, including RIBs and other small powerboats, sea angling and diving. It is also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers. The course can also be a good refresher for others with more experience.
