Please consult the following guidelines if your child is booked onto a course for Easter 2021.

We are very excited to be welcoming back our students and we hope that the measures we set out below will give you a full understanding of what we are doing to ensure the safety of both staff and course members. If you have any questions or would like more information please email us at sales@ardinglyactivitycentre.co.uk or call us on 01444 892549.

We will be adhering to UK Government and RYA/BCU guidelines at all times. If any changes are made by these institutions they will be implemented as soon as they come into force. Should the UK be put under strict lockdown measures once again, Ardingly Activity Centre will close and courses
booked will not take place. Any funds paid will be held on account for a future course.

Drop off and Pick up.

Please park in the main car park at the bottom of the hill. Do not drive up to the top and into the boat park to drop off or pick up students.
Parents are respectfully asked to ensure you are here at the start time of your course. Instructors are only provided with a small window to issue kit and leave the boat park before the next group needs to get ready and they will not be able to wait for any latecomers.

When you arrive to pick up a student please make yourself known to their instructor and they will sign out the student.

Centre Access for Students

Ardingly Activity Centre is limiting the access to the building for pupils and members of the public.
This is in accordance with government guidelines and ensures that we do not have to clean the entire building after each group has gone through.
There will be no access to changing rooms. On the first day of their course, students should arrive in swim trunks/swimsuit and a long sleeve base layer/long legged base layer, so they can put a wetsuit on over the top easily. They will be issued a wetsuit and buoyancy aid on arrival by their instructor. This kit is their personal kit for the rest of their course.

Students will be able to leave their bags and lunches in a safe place. They will be able to access them when they come off the water.

At the end of the day, students will go home in their wetsuits. They will also take home their buoyancy aid and helmet that they were issued and will wear it for all the days they attend the course. At the end of the course, kit will be returned to the course instructor. It will then be thoroughly disinfected as a precautionary measure. We recommend rolling the top half of the wetsuit down and putting a dry jumper on when
travelling to and from the centre for comfort and warmth.

The weather during April is unpredictable. We advise sending your child with multiple dry layers so they can keep warm or stay cool depending on how the weather changes.

A toilet will be made available to students should they require it. This toilet is not available to the general public and is only for course members. Showers will only be available in a hypothermic emergency. Access to the building for students is only authorised in a health and safety situation and would be overseen by senior instructors.

We understand that not having access to a changing room can cause difficulties but we have decided this is the only way to operate safely while adhering to the government guidelines.

Illness
If you, the student or anyone in the student’s household feels unwell please do not attend the course. If someone within the course group becomes ill, we will inform the other course members and instruct them to isolate.

We ask that students help us and our instructors by keeping socially distant from other course members. Please remind students that even though they are outside does not totally mitigate the risk of transmission and they must keep to social distancing guidelines, even on the water.

Our instructors have been fully briefed on Ardingly Activity Centre’s new policies and will be present at all times to remind students about social distancing. All our previous measures regarding safety of students on the water have not changed and will still be enforced and upheld.

We are looking forward to seeing all our students again this year!
