RYA Stage 1 (Oppy)
The RYA Stage 1 is part of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, providing an enjoyable and progressive way to learn to sail.
During the RYA Stage 1 course, you will learn the basics of sailing, parts of the boat and how to launch, recover and steer. After completion of the course, you will understand the basic principles of sailing in order to move onto Stage 2.
During the course, you will spend maximum time on the water in Oppys, with the instructor close at hand to guide you safely and expertly throughout the day. All equipment is provided, including a wetsuit and buoyancy aid.

- Capsize Recovery
- Meteorology
This is a three-day course, 6 hours a day, and upon successful completion of the course, you’ll receive an RYA Stage 1 certificate. Logbook and certificate included in the price.
Timings: 10am – 4:30pm everyday
Requirements
Water Confidence
No prior knowledge or experience of sailing is needed to take up this course. however the Oppy Taster is recommended dependant on age.
